(1) The affairs of the literacy center are to be conducted by a board of directors consisting of not less than twelve (12) individuals. Seventy-five (75) percent of the directors shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the urban county council members. Twenty-five (25) percent of the directors shall be appointed by the chairman of the board of trustees of the Lexington Public Library, subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of the Lexington Public Library Board.
(2) All directors of the literacy center shall serve four (4) years from the date of appointment, provided that the terms shall be staggered in the manner required by section 7.02 of the Urban County Charter. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term in the manner prescribed for the original appointment. Any director may be reappointed for additional terms.
