(a) A police academy shall be created in the division of police to which candidates for the position of police officer shall be assigned for initial classroom instruction.
(b) The academy appointment shall last for the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council certified training portion of the classroom period.
(c) A candidate may be removed from the academy with or without cause prior to completion of the classroom instruction period.
(d) During the term of the academy, the salary of the candidates shall be the minimum established for pay grade 311; and the employees shall be eligible for the benefits provided in sections 21-31 through 21-42 and section 23-35(b) and (d), under the same terms and conditions as specified in those sections, and for any benefits approved by the council for these positions.
