135.09 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE.
   (a)   In addition to furnishing the personal equipment in Section 135.08, effective January 1, 1978, the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay from the General Fund, Account 0192031 - Uniform, the sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) semi-annually and effective January 1, 1979, the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay from such fund the sum of two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225.00) semi-annually to every active member of the Division of Police as a uniform allowance. Such sums shall be payable semi-annually on March 31 and September 30 of each year, or at the next succeeding payroll date.
   (b)   To each new active member of the Division of Police, the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay upon the written request of the new active member, a sum of not more than four hundred dollars ($400.00) as an advance upon the annual uniform allowance of such member. Any funds so advanced shall be deducted from the next regular occurring uniform allowance such member is entitled to receive, until the entire amount of the advance has been paid. Should any member leave the Division before the amount of uniform allowance so advanced is due him then he shall immediately return such unearned allowance to the Department of Finance. A new member of the Division who commences his employment on a date which falls between determination dates as set forth herein shall receive a portion of uniform allowance prorated daily from date of employment. A member of the Division terminating his employment on a date which falls between determination dates as set forth herein shall receive that portion of uniform allowance to which he is entitled prorated to the date of his termination.

   (c)   A suitable uniform shall be furnished to each police cadet, matron and communication operator by the Division in lieu of a uniform allowance.

   (d)   When an employee is newly assigned to a non-uniformed investigative position in excess of thirty-one days, that employee shall receive a supplementary allowance of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) one time.
   (e)   In addition to the uniform allowance provided for herein, an employee shall be reimbursed for the actual cost of repair or replacement of personal uniform items or equipment damaged in the line of duty, subject to approval by the Chief of Police.
