7-5-2: DEFINITIONS:
For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply:
   ALLEY: A narrow public thoroughfare, providing access to the rears of the abutting property.
   ALLEY APPROACH: A curb cut and driveway apron at each end of the alley intended to benefit all property in the entire block.
   CURB CUT: That portion of the street curbing that is removed excluding curb return to provide ingress or egress from abutting property.
   CURB OPENING: The total street curbing that is removed to place a curb cut and slopes.
   CURB RETURN: The curved portion of a street curb at drive approaches.
   DRIVEWAY: That area on private property which solely serves a building, such as a house or garage, where vehicles are operated, parked or allowed to stand, and which area is less than one hundred fifty feet (150') in length.
   DRIVEWAY APRON: The area, construction or improvement between the curb opening or proposed curb line and the back edge of walk or proposed walk.
   INTERSECTION: The area embraced within the prolongation or connection of the lateral curb lines, or if not, then the lateral boundary lines of the roadways which join each other at, or approximately at right angles, or the area within which vehicles traveling upon different roadways joining at any other angle may come in conflict.
   PERSON: Every natural person, firm, copartnership, association or corporation.
   RIGHT OF WAY: Public property dedicated for streets, alleys or other public uses.
   ROADWAY: That portion of a street improved, designed and customarily used for vehicular travel, exclusive of the shoulder.
   SHOPPING CENTER: An area of land consisting of three (3) or more facilities to service daily living needs of people, with integrated access and off street parking area.
   SIDEWALK: That portion of a street between curb lines or the outer lateral lines of roadway and the adjacent property lines, intended for use of pedestrians.
   STREET: The entire width between the boundary lines of the right of way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel.
   TRAFFIC: Pedestrians, vehicles and other conveyances, either singly or together, while using any street, alley or roadway for purposes of travel. (Ord. 1937, 10-7-1974; amd. Ord. 2387-A, 3-24-1986; Ord. 2547, 4-9-1990)
