§ 6-30 IMPOUNDMENT.
   (a)   It shall be the duty of such village employees as shall be designated for that purpose by the director of public safety to take up and impound any animal found in the village in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.
   (b)   Unless claimed by the owner, impounded animals shall be kept for not less than five working days.
   (c)   If by a license tag or other means, the owner of an impounded animal can be identified, the public safety department shall immediately upon impoundment notify the owner by telephone or personal notification, if practicable, and otherwise by mail.
   (d)   Any animal not claimed by its owner within five working days shall become the property of the village, and shall be placed for adoption in a suitable home or humanely destroyed as determined in the discretion of the director of public safety.
   (e)   A complete registry of all impounded animals shall be kept indicating breed, color and sex, and, if licensed, the name and address of the owner and the license tag number.
   (f)   An owner or person claiming an impounded animal shall pay, before release of such animal, an impounding fee as set forth in the Comprehensive Fee and Fine Schedule, plus all costs of maintaining the animal while impounded and any license fees required.
