(a) There is hereby established in the City a Commission On Aging consisting of nine members. Initially, seven Commission members shall be selected by the representative ward Councilmen, one by the President of Council
and one by the Mayor.
(b) The original appointments shall be for a period of two years. Three
months prior to the expiration of the first two-year term the members of the Commission shall hold an election, the method and rules therefor being left to the discretion of such Commission members, to elect members to the Commission to fill eight positions. The Mayor shall be allowed to continue to make one appointment to the Commission.
(c) The term for any newly elected or re-elected members shall be two years.
(d) If any position becomes vacant during term, except that of the Mayoral appointment, for whatever reason, such vacancy shall be filled by special election held by the Commission pursuant to rules promulgated by the Commission.
(e) All members of the Commission shall be City residents being age sixty or over. (Ord. 71-1980. Passed. 7-14-80.)
