125.06 CUSTODY AND DEPOSIT OF FUNDS.
   (a)   All funds received on behalf of the City by any officer, employee, or agent thereof, shall be promptly paid over to the Director of Finance on the day of receipt, or the next business day following the day of receipt if the officer, employee, or agent of the City can properly safeguard the monies until such time as the monies are deposited with the Director of Finance. The department director, or his surety, shall be responsible for all City funds safeguarded within their respective departments, including any and all petty cash funds and cash drawers, and any receipts received from the time of receipt until such time as the monies are deposited with the Director of Finance.
   (b)   The Director of Finance, or his surety, shall deposit all funds received on behalf of the City, from any officer, employee or agent thereof, pursuant to the following procedures:
   (c)   If the monies received are in the form of a check, the Administrative Manager or Finance Director, shall daily process such check receipts through the check scanner tied to the City's designated depository. Once the original check is digitized by means of the check scanner the original must be destroyed per the agreement with the depository bank for the use of the check scanner within 30 - 45 days, upon verification of receipt of the funds with the City's depository bank.
   (d)   If the monies are received in cash, the Finance Director, or his surety, shall deposit all cash receipts into the properly designated depository on the business day next following the day of receipt, if the total amount of such moneys received exceeds one thousand dollars. If the total amount of the public moneys so received does not exceed one thousand dollars, the Finance Director, or his surety, shall deposit the moneys in the properly designated depository at a time not to exceed three business days from the day of receipt of the moneys.
