1357.17 CONSTRUCTION METHODS FOR METAL OR VINYL SIDING.
   (a)   In new construction, metal siding shall only be applied over wood or plywood sheathing and in no case shall it be applied over gypsum or fireboard sheathing. A vapor barrier of three-eighths or one-half inch aluminum, double-faced insulation board shall be applied. When using three-eighths or one-half inch aluminum double-faced insulation board, two-inch nails or staples shall be used and shall be driven into the studs.
 
   (b)   If using only lath and foil paper, one and one-half inch nails or staples shall be used and shall be driven into the studs.
 
   (c)   Whenever metal siding materials are used in the construction or reconstruction of any dwelling or building in the City, the metal siding shall be properly grounded in accordance with the instructions of the Building Commissioner.
   (d)   When applying vinyl siding in construction or reconstruction, three-eighths or one-half inch aluminum, single-faced insulation board shall be applied. The aluminum foil side shall face the interior of the building and two-inch nails or staples shall be used and shall be driven into the studs. Under any circumstances, wood lath shall not be used under vinyl siding.
