(a) No person shall establish, operate or maintain, or permit to be established, operated or maintained, upon any property owned or controlled by him, a hotel, motel or multiple dwelling structure, commonly called an apartment house, within the limits of the City, without first having secured a license therefor, and for each of them, from the Director of Finance, granted and existing in compliance with the terms of this chapter. Such license shall expire one year from the date of issuance, but may be renewed under the provisions of this chapter for additional periods of one year each.
(b) The application for such license or renewal thereof shall be filed with the Division of Building, Engineering and Inspection. Such application shall be made on printed forms furnished by the Division, and shall include such pertinent information as the name and address of the person making the application, the name and address of the fee owner, such description of the location of the hotel, motel or apartment house as shall readily identify and definitely locate the premises, three copies or blueprints of the building or site plan, and a verified statement that the applicant has full authority to make such application if he is not the fee owner.
(c) Before any such license may be issued, the Fire Chief and the Building Commissioner shall give their approval in writing that all laws pertaining to fire, plumbing, building, sanitation and zoning problems have been complied with.
(d) All applications for any such license shall be accompanied by the fee computed as follows:
For each hotel room or unit | $10.00 |
For each motel room or unit | 10.00 |
For each multiple dwelling (apartment) unit | 12.50 |
(e) Any license issued hereunder shall be subject to transfer whenever either of the following conditions occur:
(1) A change in the ownership of record; or
(2) A change in the agent or person in charge.
(f) Application for a transfer of any license hereunder shall be made on forms supplied by the Division of Building, Engineering and Inspection not more than thirty days after such change has occurred. A fee of five dollars ($5.00) shall be paid for each application for transfer.
(g) Prior to the issuance of the license provided in this section for a multiple dwelling or apartment unit, the applicant seeking such license shall file, in addition to the information required in subsection (b) hereof, a complete list of the names and addresses of all tenants residing in the multiple dwelling or apartment unit for which the license is sought.
