(a) "Mechanical musical instrument" as used in this chapter means any amusement machine, apparatus or device designed or constructed for the purpose of producing, reproducing or playing any musical or vocal tone or combination of tones, the operation or use of which instrument is permitted, controlled, allowed or made possible by the deposit or placing of any coin, plate, disc, token or key into any slot, crevice or other opening in such instrument.
(b) "Premises which are open to the public", or similar words as used in this chapter, includes clubs, private clubs, headquarters, and meeting places of fraternal and other societies, associations and bodies, and all other
public places.
