4-1-1: OFFICE CREATED:
The office of building inspector is hereby created and the executive official in charge shall be known as the building inspector. The building inspector shall be appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the board of trustees. During temporary absence or disability of the building inspector, the appointing authorities shall designate an acting building inspector. (Ord. 351, 5-18-1982)
4-1-2: TERM OF OFFICE:
The building inspector shall hold office from the date of his appointment to and until May 1 next following the regular election for the election of a village president for the full term and until his successor shall have been appointed and shall be qualified. (Ord. 351, 5-18-1982)
4-1-3: OATH:
Before entering upon the duties of his office, the building inspector shall take an oath to faithfully discharge the duties of his office in the form prescribed by law. (Ord. 351, 5-18-1982)
4-1-4: DUTIES:
It shall be the duty of the building inspector to enforce all laws regulating the construction, location, alteration, removal and demolition of buildings, structures, and private swimming pools, and all laws relating to zoning, occupancy and use of premises. (Ord. 351, 5-18-1982)
4-1-5: RIGHT OF ENTRY:
The building inspector, in the discharge of his official duties, and upon proper identification, shall have authority to enter any building, structure or premises at any reasonable hour. (Ord. 351, 5-18-1982)
4-1-6: PERMIT REQUIRED:
No person shall construct, erect, install, or locate any building or structure, public or private, without first obtaining a building permit as herein provided. (Ord. 351, 5-18-1982)
The building inspector shall be given at least twenty four (24) hours' notice of the starting of work under the building permit. Construction pursuant to the permit must begin within ninety (90) days of its issuance. The permit will expire at the end of one year from the issuance date; however, where the size of the building project takes longer than one year to complete and/or there is a valid reason to extend the construction period beyond one year, the building inspector may grant up to two (2) 90-day extensions for the project after a showing of reasonable cause. 4-1-7: APPLICATION:
Any person desiring to construct, erect, install or locate any building or structure in the village shall first make written application for a permit to the village clerk. At the time written application is submitted to the village clerk, the village clerk shall collect in full a fee for each building permit as hereinafter set forth. Thereafter, the village clerk shall transmit the written application to the building inspector. Upon receipt by him of the written application for a permit, the building inspector shall determine if the application is adequate and whether the proposed building or structure conforms to the requirements of this code. If the building inspector determines that the application is adequate, and further that the building or structure conforms to the requirements of this code, the building inspector shall forthwith issue an appropriate building permit.
