A. All signs requiring a permit: Ten cents ($0.10) per square foot with a minimum of fifteen dollars ($15.00).
B. Awning or auto canopy: Fifteen dollars ($15.00).
C. Marquee: Twenty cents ($0.20) per square foot with minimum of ten dollars ($10.00) and maximum of forty dollars ($40.00).
D. Public information signs: Twenty five dollars ($25.00). (Ord. 07-17, 10-9-2007)
Any sign which, for a period of six (6) months, no longer advertises a bona fide business conducted, or a product sold, shall be taken down and removed by the owner, agent or person having the beneficial use of the building or structure upon which such sign is located, within ten (10) days after written notification by the city. Upon failure to comply with such notice within the time specified, the city is hereby authorized to cause the removal of such sign, and any expense incidental thereto shall be paid by the owner of the building or structure to which such sign is attached. Temporary signs, including those mounted on a H stick metal frame or otherwise, shall not be placed on utility poles (metal or wood) and may not be placed on any posts in public rights of way. Temporary signs, which include any sign placed for a short period of time (i.e., garage sale, etc.), must be removed as soon as the event is completed or within ten (10) days of posting. Non-event temporary signs (i.e., lost or found posters, etc.) must be visibly dated on the front of the sign and must be removed within thirty (30) days of posting. Any signs not in compliance with this section shall be removed by the City. Signs should not be placed where obstruction of traffic is affected or upon cardboard boxes filled with a weight. A. In any case where work has begun on a sign without a valid permit, a penalty fee shall apply. The penalty fee will be equal to two (2) times the cost of the permit, plus the cost of the permit.
B. The city clerk-treasurer or building official may waive this fee if circumstances indicate that the failure to obtain a permit was inadvertent or unavoidable; and provided, that the permit application is submitted in a timely manner. (Ord. 07-17, 10-9-2007)
