(A) Each member shall be paid the sum to be prescribed by the Mayor and City Council for each hour of active service. A member shall be an employee of the city for the time during which the Chief of Police has placed the member on active service.
(B) Members suffering injuries arising out of or in the course of duties assigned them by the Mayor or Chief of Police are entitled to such medical care, hospitalization, compensation and other benefits as the city may provide for other members of the city government.
