The company shall have the authority, to the extent that the village has such authority, to trim trees upon or overhanging streets, highways, alleys, bridges or other public ways or places of the village in order to prevent the branches of such trees from coming in contact with the wires, cables, conductors or other facilities or equipment of the company; provided, however, that the company shall obtain permission of any landowner should it be necessary to trim any tree where the main trunk is located on private property.
