9-10-5: COMMERCIAL ZONE SIGNS (C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, C-5, C-6, C-7, C-8, C-9, C-10, G-2, T-1, T-2, M-1):
   A.   Signs Attached To Structures:
      1.   The total signage on any single face of a structure shall not exceed twenty percent (20%) of the area of that face.
      2.   No roof signs shall be allowed.
      3.   Illuminated signs shall be lighted in such a way that the light source cannot be seen from the street or adjoining property and shall comply with title 8, chapter 3 of this code.
      4.   All signs shall comply with title 8, chapter 2 of this code.
   B.   Freestanding Signs: Signs not attached to the face of a structure shall be considered freestanding and shall comply with the following:
      1.   Only one freestanding sign shall be allowed on each lot.
      2.   Gasoline price signs; service stations shall be permitted one double faced, on site sign not to exceed twelve (12) square feet per face and five feet (5') in height advertising the price of gasoline. Such signs may be freestanding so long as all of the criteria for a freestanding sign are met. Such signs shall not contain any advertisement other than brand name. The height limitation referred to above shall not apply to those gas price signs which are mounted on a freestanding sign. (Ord. 277, 10-29-1997)
      3.   The maximum area for any one freestanding sign shall be thirty two (32) square feet where the height will not exceed the width of the actual sign, with a maximum height of six feet (6'), including border and trim, whether on a post or base from the ground elevation to its highest point.       4.   The area shall be measured by the smallest square, rectangle, triangle, circle or combination thereof which will encompass the entire sign.
      5.   Freestanding signs may be placed back to back, side to side, stacked or in V-type construction with not more than two (2) displays to each facing. Such sign structure or structures shall be considered one sign.
      6.   Signs may not be located in such a manner as to obscure or otherwise interfere with the effectiveness of an official traffic sign, signal or device; or to obstruct, interfere with or compromise the safety of vehicular or pedestrian traffic.
      7.   All components of a sign shall be located within the lot lines of the lot on which it is erected.
      8.   Illuminated signs shall comply with title 8, chapter 3 of this code.
      9.   Commercial zone signs shall comply with title 8, chapter 2 of this code. (Ord. 277, 10-29-1997)
