137.11 APPOINTMENTS, PROMOTIONS AND PROBATION.
   All appointments and promotions by the Mayor in the classified service of the City shall be for a probationary period of twelve (12) months, except that the probationary period for an original appointment to the classified position of police officer in the Division of Police shall be for a probationary period of twenty-four (24) months. No appointment or promotion therein shall be final until the employee has served and completed his probationary period in a satisfactory manner. An employee of the classified service of the City so appointed or promoted shall be subject to removal as a new employee or demoted as a promoted employee by the Mayor at any time during the probationary period, without appeal to the Civil Service Commission, if the Mayor determines that services and performance of the employee during such probationary period are unsatisfactory. Appointments or promotions in the classified service of the City shall become final at the end of the probationary period.
