Any building used exclusively for the production, distribution, or storage of manufactured gas as a public utility shall be exempt from the requirements of this chapter dealing with construction except the provisions of Section 15-24-170 for tanks for flammable liquids; provided, however, that such buildings shall be Type I or II construction and exterior walls located less than 30 feet from an interior lot line or another building on the same lot and exceeding 45 feet in height shall be of construction providing fire resistance of not less than two hours.
