Employees who are career service or probationary career service immediately prior to the adoption of this ordinance shall be continued in their respective positions without further examination, unless exempted or separated from their positions as provided by ordinance or rule. Any such person whose position is reclassified hereunder to the departmental employment service shall retain any right that would have otherwise been enjoyed under the career service. Nothing herein shall preclude the reclassification or reallocation as provided by this chapter of any position held by such incumbent.
