Any person who shall wilfully or maliciously cut, write upon, injure, deface, tear or destroy any book, newspaper, plate, picture, engraving or other thing of value belonging to the Chicago Public Library, or any of its branches, may be fined not less than $50.00 nor more than $500.00 for every such offense. Any person who shall wilfully or maliciously commit any injury upon or to the Chicago Public Library, or upon or to the grounds, buildings, furniture, fixtures, or other property thereof, shall be fined not less than $50.00 nor more than $500.00 for each offense.
