(a) No owner or operator of any vehicle shall cause, allow, permit or suffer any such vehicle to be parked across any line designating a metered parking zone. Vehicles must be parked within the area of the individual metered parking zone or space in order to be legally parked.

(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor on a first offense; on a second offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree; on each subsequent offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
