353.01 DEFINITIONS.
   When used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in this section:
   (a)    "Commercial car" means any motor vehicle having motor power designed and used for carrying merchandise or freight, or used as a commercial tractor.
    (b)    "Loading zone" means that portion of the roadway officially set apart and reserved for the loading and unloading of merchandise by commercial vehicles and designated by signs placed and maintained adjacent to the curb.
    (c)   "Metered parking zone" means a portion of the paved surface of the street approximately twenty feet in length extending from the sidewalk curb into the street a sufficient distance to accommodate a vehicle when the same is parked parallel to the curb, with the right wheels thereof not more than one foot from such curb or a similar surface lot space owned by the City and properly created, delineated and designated for the use of the general public as a parking space.
   (d)    "Motor carrier" means any person engaged in the operation of motor vehicles for the carriage of persons for hire.
   (e)    "Parking" means the standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, upon a roadway, other than temporarily, for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading or in obedience to traffic regulations or traffic signs or signals.
   (f)    "Parking meter" means a device which shall indicate thereon the length of time during which a vehicle may be parked in a metered parking zone and which shall contain brief instructions as to the operation thereof.
   (g)   "Safety zone along curb" means the area or space for the exclusive use of pedestrians, along any street at any regularly designated bus stop or taxistand, officially set apart and which is designated by plainly visible standards erected or placed along the curb, which space is reserved for the purpose of permitting persons to board or alight from motor carriers.
