127.05 COLLECTION OF UNPAID DEBTS.
   (a)   The Law Director is authorized and directed to assist the City’s elected officers and other municipal officials in the comprehensive pursuit of any unpaid debts owed to the City or any associated municipal entity. The Law Director shall review and approve any contract which outsources the collection of said debts to a third party, including, but not limited to a law firm, collection agency or like entity.
 
   (b)   All unpaid debts owed to the City or an associated municipal entity which are collected by the City or any associated municipal entity shall, at the appropriate official’s discretion, include the principal balance due, interest, penalties, late fees, and/or any other permissible fees, fines or charges, as well as any court costs and attorneys fees authorized by Ohio law.
 
   (c)   All unpaid debts owed to the City or any associated municipal entity which the City or an associated municipal entity places with a third party shall, at the appropriate official’s discretion, include the principal balance due, all costs associated with the collection of the debt by a third party, interest, penalties, late fees, and/or any other permissible fees, fines or charges, as well as any court costs and attorneys fees authorized by Ohio law.
 
   (d)   The Law Director retains the responsibility and authority set forth in Section 127.04, notwithstanding the delegation of a debt to a third party.
