The imposition of the civil and criminal penalties herein described shall not prevent the Law Director from instituting appropriate action to prevent unlawful construction or to restrain, correct or abate a violation; or to prevent an illegal occupancy of a building, structure or premises; or to stop an illegal act, conduct of business or use of a building or structure in or about any premises. Upon the request of the Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau, or his inspector, the Law Director shall institute and prosecute such actions as he deems necessary in order to enforce the provisions of this chapter.
