(a) A full-time employee and an attorney in the Law Department earns four and six-tenths (4.6) hours of sick leave with pay for each completed eighty (80) hours of service. Part-time attorneys earn sick leave prorated based on the number of scheduled weekly work hours. Upon the approval of the department head or appointing authority, the employee may use sick leave for absence due to illness, injury, exposure to contagious disease, and for illness or death in the employee's immediate family. The employee must take sick leave in at least fifteen (15)-minute increments.
(b) An employee must provide a physician's certificate justifying more than three (3) consecutive days of sick leave. An appointing authority may establish regulations for their employees' use of sick leave.
