(a) The City shall pay an employee and elected official for 100% of up to 1,200 hours of accrued sick leave upon retirement at the rate of pay at the time of retirement. That amount is taxable for the purpose of City income tax. The employee forfeits hours exceeding that amount.
(b) If an employee or elected official dies, the City shall pay the employee's estate for 100% of up to 1,200 hours of accrued sick leave at the rate of pay at the time of death. That amount is taxable for purposes of city income tax. All sick leave exceeding that amount is forfeited.
