(a) The Chief of the Fire Department shall divide the uniformed force of the Fire Department into not less than two platoons. The Chief shall keep a platoon of the uniformed force on duty twenty-four consecutive hours. Each member of a platoon shall work an average 52.26-hour work week based on a forty-five calendar day period. He shall work a total of fourteen (14) twenty-four hour scheduled work days during the period; working twenty-four hours on duty and forty-eight hours off duty. Each member of a platoon shall be placed in a group so as to receive a scheduled working day off during this period. This provision excludes the forty-hour work week personnel in the Fire Department.
