131.05 PRIVATE POLICE.
   (a)    When any person having a place of business, or controlling or owning any personal property or real estate within the corporate limits of the City, desires better protection of his property or business by having one or more additional policemen, the Mayor shall appoint such policemen, who shall also be commissioned by the Director of Public Safety. Such policemen shall constitute the private police force of the City. No provision of this section shall be construed as affecting the regular classified list of the Police Department.    (EDITOR'S NOTE: Opinion 77-04 of the City Law Department states that the Director of Public Safety should require bond of private police in order to protect the City under authority of Ohio R.C. 737.05.)
   (b)   The members of the private police force shall have the powers, and be subject to the same regulations as other policemen and shall perform such police duties at such time and places within the City limits as the person requesting the appointment shall determine and direct provided such duties are consistent with the laws of the State or the ordinances of the City.

   (c)   Each member of the private police force shall serve during the pleasure of the person requesting his appointment, and shall be paid such compensation as may be agreed upon by such private policeman and the person requesting his appointment.
