123.04 PRIVATELY-OWNED VEHICLES USED FOR CITY BUSINESS.
   (a)   An elected or appointed official or employee of the City, prior to using his personal automobile for the purpose of transacting City business in or outside of the City limits, must obtain authorization to use such vehicle in accordance with the following stipulations:

      (1)   Officials and employees using privately-owned automobiles for City business on a day-to-day basis, which are operated in the City limits or in the immediate vicinity thereof must first secure written authorization from their department head and file the same with the City Auditor.

      (2)   Officials or employees using privately-owned automobiles for City business on occasional long trips beyond the corporate limits must first secure written authorization from the Mayor, or their respective elected official or appointed Board designee, which authorization must be filed with the City Auditor.    (b)   Authorization required for the stipulations in subsection (a) hereof must be obtained in writing on forms designated by the City Auditor. Authorization referred to therein required for occasional trips shall be retained by the City Auditor until such time as expense statements are received and the same shall thereafter be attached to the voucher for payment. Authorization required for day-to-day use as set forth hereinabove shall be retained by the Auditor as part of his permanent files.
