777.99 PENALTY.

   Whoever knowingly violates or fails to comply with any provision of this chapter, shall be subject to the following penalties:

   (a)    For a first violation or any violation not within two years of a preceding violation, a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00);

   (b)    For a second violation within two years of a preceding violation, a fine not to exceed seven hundred fifty dollars ($750. 00);

   (c)    For a third violation and any successive violations thereafter within two years of two preceding violations, a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisonment not to exceed six months, or both (misdemeanor of the first degree).
