All persons appointed under the provisions of this Chapter as policemen or special police shall be under the direction and supervision of the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police may designate one of the policemen to be Assistant Chief of Police and in the absence of the Chief of Police, he shall have all the authority herein vested in the Chief of Police. The policemen shall be subject to the orders of the Chief of Police, except in cases otherwise provided by ordinance. It shall be their duty to cause the public peace to be preserved and to see that all laws and ordinances are enforced within the City limits. (Ord. 457, 9-4-1951; amd. 1981 Code)
