It shall be the duty of all officers and employees of the fire department to attend to the duties of their respective positions under the orders of the chief of the fire department, or, in case of his absence or inability to serve, under the assistant chief of the fire department.
They shall strictly carry out all orders given them as above set out, and shall at all times be under the direct supervision or management of the chief of the fire department or the officer acting in place of the chief, by reason of the absence or the inability of said chief.
