6-2-10: TRAP DOORS, OPENINGS OR GRATINGS 1 :
   A.   Unlawful: It shall be unlawful to construct or maintain any trap door, opening or grating in any public sidewalk in the city, except upon permission therefor being granted by the city council by resolution being duly adopted. (1974 Code § 6-117)
   B.   Openings In Sidewalks: Every person building, maintaining or permitting any bulkhead, cellar or basement way, stairway, door, window, or other hole or opening leading to or from the street or sidewalk to the premises owned or occupied by him shall keep the same property guarded with a good substantial rail, grate or other device, together with the manner of placing and maintaining the same shall be approved by the building inspector, and the owner or person having control of any premises to or from which such bulkhead, cellar, or basement way, stairway, door, window, or other hole or opening shall open or lead, and not protecting the same as aforesaid shall be guilty of maintaining a nuisance, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as provided in section 6-2-12 of this chapter.
