A. Permit Required: It shall be unlawful to make any excavation on any public street or alley without first having secured a permit therefor. All the provisions of subsection 8-2-1A of this Chapter relating to the construction or laying of pavement shall apply hereto.
B. Bonds Required:
1. Applications for the permit required by subsection A of this Section shall be accompanied by a bond conditioned to indemnify the Village for any loss or damage resulting from the work undertaken or the manner of doing the same. Such bond shall be in the sum as provided in Section 3-1-6 of this Code with sureties to be approved by the Building Department.
2. It shall be unlawful for any person to maintain any opening of any kind in any public sidewalk unless such person shall file with the Building Department a bond in the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), conditioned to indemnify the Village for any loss, damage or liability resulting from the existence or use of such opening.
