(A) Position Created: The position of deputy police chief is hereby created and established within the village of Bedford Park police department.
(B) Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the deputy police chief are as follows:
1. The deputy chief of police shall be the second in command and shall have such authority and perform such duties as the police chief shall assign. The deputy chief shall be required to supervise the work of the department and require satisfactory performance of the unit, subject to the orders of the chief of police.
2. The deputy police chief shall have the same job responsibilities and duties as a captain of police described in section 9-1-4-1 of this chapter.
3. The deputy police chief shall be a full time employee of the village of Bedford Park and shall assume all the powers, duties and responsibilities of the police chief in the absence of said chief.
(C) Compensation: The compensation for the deputy police chief shall be determined on an annual basis. (Ord. 01-1082, 5-17-2001)
