727.01 PROHIBITION OF DISCRIMINATION IN HOUSING; NOTICE.
   (a)   No person, firm, corporation, partnership or other entity shall discriminate against any person in the sale, lease or rental of any residential dwelling unit or in the lending of money therefor or in any other activity related to housing by reason of such prospective purchaser’s, seller’s or renter’s race, color, creed, religious belief, sex, marital status, national origin, age, handicap, or familial status. Sexual harassment in regard to activities related to housing shall also be a violation of this chapter.
   (b)   Discrimination, as used in this chapter, means a difference in treatment solely because of a person’s race, color, creed, religious belief, sex, marital status, national origin, age, handicap, or familial status.
   (c)   Every real estate agent and each person who operates or manages a multi-unit residential building containing more than two (2) dwelling units shall post in a conspicuous location in those areas of their places of business located with the City of Bedford where prospective purchases, sellers or renters normally make inquiries, and where the terms of a sale or rental are normally negotiated, a notice as prepared by the Housing Coordinator which contains the following language:
 
“IT IS A VIOLATION OF THE FAIR HOUSING LAW OF THE CITY OF BEDFORD, IN CONNECTION WITH ANY HOUSING ACTIVITY, TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ANY PERSON BECAUSE OF RACE, COLOR, CREED, RELIGIOUS BELIEF, SEX, MARITAL STATUS, NATIONAL ORIGIN, AGE, HANDICAP, OR FAMILIAL STATUS. SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN REGARD TO HOUSING ACTIVITIES IS ALSO A VIOLATION OF SUCH LAW.

   (d)   Such notices may be obtained from the Housing Coordinator who shall provide copies of this legislation to each such property operator or manager within the City and to every real estate broker which in their judgment is likely to do business in the City of Bedford, and to the Cleveland Area Board of Realtors and the Ohio Association of Realtors, which notice shall be deemed actual notice of the notice requirements set forth herein to each employee and salesman employed by such broker.
