70.057: POLICE CHIEF TO DESIGNATE CROSSWALKS AND ESTABLISH SAFETY ZONES:
The chief of police, subject to any directions which the commission may give by motion or resolution is hereby authorized:
   A.   Crosswalks: To designate and maintain, by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway, crosswalks at intersections where in his opinion there is particular danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway, and at such other places as he may deem necessary.
   B.   Safety Zones: To establish safety zones or islands of such kind and character and at such places as he may deem necessary for the protection of pedestrians.
   C.   Quiet Zones: To designate areas of streets within three hundred feet (300') of any hospital, church, school or other public institutions, to be known as "quiet zones", which zones will be marked with appropriate signs and direct that drivers of vehicles within such areas are not to sound a horn or other warning device while traveling within the area thus designated, and it shall be unlawful for any person to sound any horn or warning device in violation of such signs.
