(a) The duties of the officer designated by the Safety Director to serve in place of the Chief of Police, in the Chief's absence, shall include, at such times as designated by the Safety Director, the duties of the Chief of the Police Division of the City.
(b) The rank of the designated officer shall remain unchanged during service as Acting Chief and the compensation to be paid said designated officer during said service shall be equal to the compensation paid the Chief of Police determined by Council..
