Incidents involving releases or spills of hazardous materials or traffic accidents involving vehicles transporting hazardous materials shall be reported immediately to the fire department by telephone using the 911 number. The fire chief shall file a standing request with the Materials Transportation Bureau of the United States Department of Transportation for routine mailing to the fire department of a copy of the written report required by 49 C.F.R. 171.16.
