§ 138.03 SETTLEMENT OF CERTAIN ORDINANCE VIOLATIONS.
   (A)   Settlement of claim. Any person accused of a violation of any of the code references listed in division (E) below may settle and compromise the claim by paying to the village the sum listed in division (E) below.
   (B)   Ticket in lieu of arrest. The tickets issued under this section shall be a courtesy in lieu of arrest. If the accused does not settle the claim, a complaint or notice to appear may be issued for that violation and the accused will be subject to penalties otherwise applicable.
   (C)   Payment. Any person wishing to settle and compromise an offense shall pay the required amount on or before the date specified in the notice of violation, which date will be approximately ten days from the date on which the notice of violation is given. The payment can be made either by mailing a check or money order, together with the violator’s copy of the ticket to the Village of Tremont, 211 S. Sampson St., Tremont, IL 61568, or by paying the same in person at the Tremont Village Hall during regular business hours. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the village.
   (D)   Prosecution prevented. The members of the Police Department are hereby authorized to refrain from instituting a prosecution for the alleged offense upon payment of the below stated amount.
   (E)   Settlement payment schedule. The following violations may be settled without court proceedings by payment to the village of the fine listed thereunder:
