ORDINANCE NO. 853-24

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAFT ADDING SECTION 1-7-6 TO CHAPTER 7 OF TITLE 1 AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAFT AND THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES’ RETIREMENT SYSTEM

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Taft and the Board of Administration of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System originally entered into a contract effective February 16, 1976, and witnessed January 5, 1976, being amended effective June 21, 1993, October 3, 1996, and August 17, 2000, which provides for participation of the City of Taft in said System; and

WHEREAS, a Resolution of Intention to approve another amendment to such contract was approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Taft at their regularly scheduled meeting on October 15, 2024 for the purpose of said amendment; and

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Taft now intends to approve and memorialize this amendment and authorize the Mayor to execute the amendment on behalf of the City; and

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAFT DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That an amendment to the contract between the City Council of the City of Taft and the Board of Administration, California Public Employees’ Retirement System is hereby authorized a copy of said amendment being attached hereto, marked Exhibit, and by such reference made a part hereof as though herein set out in full.

SECTION 2. The Mayor of the City Council of the City of Taft is hereby authorized, empowered, and directed to execute said amendment for and on behalf of said Agency.

SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption, and within fifteen (15) days after its adoption shall be published at least once in the Daily Midway Driller, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Taft together with the names of members of the City Council voting for and against the same and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
