(a) The general duties of the Fire Department shall include the following:
(1) Providing and performing the protection of the lives and property of the people in case of fire;
(2) Providing and performing emergency ambulance service, whether or not related to damage and accidents resulting from fire;
(3) Providing and performing emergency medical services by furnishing emergency medical care to victims of serious illness or injury prior to the victims receiving professional medical care or hospitalization. Such services shall be provided by emergency medical technicians ambulance or “EMT-As,” advanced emergency medical technicians ambulance or “ADV EMT-As,” and emergency medical technicians paramedic or “paramedics” as those positions are defined in Ohio R.C. 3303.08;
(4) Performing all duties enjoined upon it by the laws of the State and the Charter and ordinances of the City; and
(5) Performing such duties as may be directed or designated by the Fire Chief, the Director of Public Safety or the Mayor.
(b) The general duties of the specific ranks and special positions within ranks of the Fire Department shall include the following:
(1) Performing the duties of the rank or special position within the rank as shall be designated from time to time in the position description for such rank or special position within the rank as prepared by the Fire Chief and approved by the Director of Public Safety, the Mayor and Council; and
(2) Performing such duties as shall be directed by the Fire Chief.
