Section 7. Police Chief.

The Chief of Police shall be appointed by Council on the recommendation of the Mayor. The Chief of Police, upon the vacancy of the office, shall be appointed by the Council on the recommendation of the Safety Director. For purposes of lay-off, discipline, suspension or removal, he shall be considered a member of the classified service in the Division of Safety. (Amended 11-8-94; 11-7-06)
