Every kitchen, bathroom, and watercloset compartment shall be provided with light and ventilation as prescribed for habitable rooms, except that in no case shall the aggregate glass area in each room be less than six square feet. However, where an approved exhaust ventilation system (100 CFM minimum exhaust fan for bathrooms and 250 CFM minimum exhaust fan for kitchens) and approved artificial light (three watts per square foot) is installed in such a manner as to be available for operation at all times when such room is occupied, no natural light or ventilation shall be required.
