(A) Generally. It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police and all members of the Police Department to preserve peace, law, and order, and protect the rights of all persons and property by the enforcement of all laws and ordinances and orders of the Mayor and the Town Council.
(B) Chief. It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police to see that all provisions of the ordinances of the town are duly enforced and to perform such other duties as the Town Council may require of him or her or that are required by state law and by the provisions of the ordinances of the town. The Chief of Police shall also have the authority to hire and fire all other members of the Police Department, with the approval and consent of the Mayor.
(C) Police officers. The police officers of the town shall possess all the privileges and be subject to all the duties imposed upon such officers by state law and the ordinances of the town.
