4-3-3: APPOINTMENT OF POLICE CHIEF:
The Board shall appoint a Chief of Police in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 31-4-304 and 31-4-306 within thirty (30) days after every regular election. The Chief of Police shall be answerable to and under the control and direction of the Board of Trustees or designated member thereof consistent with the authority to enforce all Town ordinances or codes, but shall exercise independent discretion regarding all police matters. 4-3-4: OFFICERS' QUALIFICATIONS:
The person or persons selected and employed by the Board of Trustees to serve as a part time or full time police officer, shall be of high moral character, have a good personal record, and be well suited in all ways to employment as a Municipal police officer. (Ord. 179, 5-2-1990)
4-3-5: DUTIES OF OFFICERS:
The Town of Simla Marshal or Chief of Police shall have all duties and powers as set forth in the Colorado Statutes. The primary duties of the Chief of Police or Marshal and all other law enforcement officers of the Town shall be the enforcement of the ordinances of the Town, including all traffic ordinances adopted by the Town, and the enforcement of the Colorado Revised Statutes. The Town law enforcement officers shall be furnished with a police manual detailing his or her duties and manner of conduct as prepared by the Chief or Marshal and amended or approved by the Board of Trustees. 4-3-6: AMENDMENTS BY RESOLUTION:
Any amendments, additions or other changes in this chapter shall henceforth be made by resolution of the Board of Trustees. (Ord. 179, 5-2-1990)
4-3-7: POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:
   A.   The Board hereby approves the Simla Police Department policies and procedures as set forth in the document of the same name, as presently constituted. Such policies and procedures shall be applicable to all members of the Police Department. A copy of such policies and procedures shall remain on file in the Office of the Town Clerk and shall be available for inspection and copying at reasonable business hours.
   B.   Any revisions to the policies and procedures shall be by resolution after approval of the Board.
   C.   The policies and procedures shall replace rules and regulations adopted by the Board on May 1, 1990. (Res. 89-1998, 9-2-1998)
