TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES
§ 70.20  OBEDIENCE TO TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES.
   The driver of any vehicle shall obey the directions of any official traffic-control device applicable thereto and placed in accordance with the provisions of this code and other ordinances of the town relative to traffic, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, subject to the exceptions granted the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle in this chapter.

§ 70.21  SIGNS REQUIRED FOR ENFORCEMENT OF VIOLATIONS; EXCEPTIONS.
   (A)   No provision of this chapter for which signs are required shall be enforced against an alleged violator if, at the time and place of the alleged violation, an official sign is not in proper position and sufficiently legible to an ordinarily observant person.
   (B)   Whenever a particular section does not state that signs are required, such section shall be effective without signs being placed to give notice thereof.

§ 70.22  QUIET ZONES.
   Whenever authorized signs are placed, erected or installed indicating a zone of quiet, no person operating a motor vehicle within any such zone shall sound a horn or other warning device of the vehicle, except in an emergency.

§ 70.23  PLAY STREETS.
   Whenever authorized signs are placed, erected or installed indicating any street or part thereof as a play street, no person shall drive a vehicle upon any such street or portion thereof except the driver of a vehicle having business within such closed area or whose residence is within such closed area, and any such driver shall exercise the greatest care in driving upon any such street or portion thereof.

§ 70.24  SCHOOL ZONES.
   Whenever authorized signs are placed, erected or installed indicating any street or parts thereof as school zones, all drivers of motor vehicles using such streets or parts thereof shall exercise the greatest care in driving upon such streets or parts thereof for the protection of children.
