For the government of the library and reading room, established by section 10-4-1 of this code, there shall be a board of five (5) directors appointed by the council of the city from among the citizens thereof at large, and not more than one member of the council shall, at any time, be a member of the board of library directors. Such directors shall hold their office for five (5) years from the date of appointment. All vacancies shall be immediately reported to the city council by the library board of directors, and shall be filled by appointment in the same manner as appointments are originally made. Appointments to complete an unexpired term shall be for the residue of the term only. No compensation shall be paid or allowed to any director in any manner whatsoever. (Ord. 799, 2-1-2000)
