9-3-7: DESIGNATED ATV ROUTES:
   A.   Routes And Trails: The following are designated routes and trails for ATV use within the village:
All public streets except:
      1.   County Road W.
      2.   State Highway 10.
      3.   Any street where operation is prohibited by a posted sign.
   B.   Other Areas Prohibited: Except as provided in Wisconsin statutes or in this chapter, no person shall operate any ATV upon any public right of way, street, or highway, nature trail, or in any public park or cemetery or on any other public or private property in the village except upon designated ATV routes and trails.
   C.   Exception For Crossing: Notwithstanding the foregoing, an ATV may be operated to cross a prohibited street or highway from a legal area on one side of the street to the other side to reach a street which is legal upon which to operate.
   D.   ATV Routes, Signs, And Markers:
      1.   Trail Markers: The village board or its designee and the village police chief are authorized and directed to procure, erect, and maintain appropriate ATV route, trail, and speed limit signs and markers as approved by the state department of natural resources under Wisconsin statutes to comply with the terms of this chapter.
      2.   Trail Status: The village board or the village police chief shall have the authority to declare the stated ATV routes and trails either opened or closed.
      3.   Signs And Markers: No person shall fail to obey any route or trail sign, marker, or speed limit or other control device erected in accordance with this chapter or under the authority of Wisconsin statutes. (Ord. 2007-2, 5-21-2007)
