§ 872.02 TAXICABS TO BE SAFE; LIABILITY INSURANCE/UNINSURED AND UNDER- INSURED MOTORIST.
   (A)   Each taxicab, hotel/motel courtesy vehicle, limousine or shuttle service vehicle, shall be safe and fit for public use. Proof of same must be in writing from the owner, operator or manager of a garage servicing vehicle of the public. Such proof shall be renewed semi-annually on January 1 and July 1.
   (B)   Each licensed hotel/motel courtesy vehicle, limousine, shuttle or taxicab shall be covered by a combined single limit liability policy providing coverage per occurrence for death, personal injury and property damage, as follows:
      (1)   Liability insurance in the minimum amount of $100,000 liability single limit coverage.
      (2)   Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage insurance: Each licensed public vehicle, except animal-drawn carriages, shall provide to its passengers uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage which shall provide protection for bodily injury or death to the passengers in the amount of $425,000. The coverage afforded herein shall not apply to the drivers of the vehicles.
   (C)   Each vehicle to be licensed shall be operated only by a person who holds an operator's license for operation of a motor vehicle, as defined Ohio R.C. 4511.01. The Chief of Police shall investigate and report his findings regarding the criminal and driving history of each operator to operate a taxicab, limousine or shuttle vehicle to the Safety-Service Director or his designee.
