§ 234.12 FIRE HYDRANT USE BY OUTSIDE CONTRACTORS.
   (A)   City fire hydrants may be used by outside contractors, sub-contractors, their affiliates or others and, by reason thereof, such use is authorized as approved by the Safety Service Director.
   (B)   Prior to use of a hydrant, the user must obtain a hydrant permit, water meter, and appropriate tools from the Fire Department. A copy of this permit must be on site and available upon the request of any police officer or Fire Department member of the city.
   (C)   The Safety Service Director is authorized to charge a permit fee as set by ordinance for each day of use to defray the cost of hydrant upkeep and maintenance. The Safety Service Director is also authorized to charge for the water used at the standard water rate.
   (D)   The contractor is responsible for any loss or damage to the meter, tools, or hydrant.
   (E)   Anyone who violates or fails to comply with any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than $100 for each offense.
